About
Our Story
The Essentialist LLC is a newly formed organization specializing in the advocacy and promotion of people who are neurodiverse. In today’s economy there is a greater need for creative approaches to expanding a company’s business and clientele. Many, if not most, companies describe themselves as fast-paced and creative environments, though often they are looking for people who possess the ability to work within their established model. This pattern in hiring can lead to a lack of consistent innovation. As a result, there is a growing need to “think outside the box”: a mentality that enables organizations to tap into markets or create circumstances that set them apart from the competition. Hiring and empowering neurodiverse employees can provide market differentiation at a time when it is most critical.
Annie Homsy-Harris founded this company to help promote and advocate for the neurodiverse within the employment market. Annie is herself neurodiverse and has seen first-hand how hard it can be to allow yourself to be open about it, knowing the stigma that still surrounds it. In her opinion, it is something to celebrate, and as companies become more and more aware, the celebration grows.
